Storms cause damage to trees in Hastings and Rye

Trees and branches were felled at the weekend after the area was hit by two storms in as many days.

A tree blew down at Rye Skate Park, on The Salts, on Friday falling across the skating ramp.

Rye Town Steward Nicky Ledger said: “We are aware of it and hopefully all being well the tree, which is the responsibility of Rother District Council, will be removed this week. “Once the tree has been removed we will be able to safely assess any damage that may have been done to the skate ramps themselves. Until then I would ask that people keep a safe distance from the taped off area.”

There was also a large tree branch that came down in St Leonards at the entrance to Kings Road. There have been no reports of people sustaining injuries.
