No white lines leaves East Sussex road in 'diabolical' condition
A Parish Council chairman has accused East Sussex County Council of allowing road conditions to deteriorate.
That is in spite of improvements to the condition of the B2012, the main route between Framfield and Blackboys - which extends eastwards into Heathfield.
Keith Brandon says he's been fighting to get central white lines restored along this stretch of the route, saying they disappeared when the road surface melted during last summer's heatwave.
He said: "After years of campaigning alongside our previous county councillor, we secured new safety signage and markers around the Pound Lane bend. Yet, having spent money improving safety we are left chasing the restoration of basic road markings. Improving safety with one hand and allowing it to deteriorate with the other makes little sense to me."

Cllr Peter Griffiths, ESCC Lead Member for Transport and the Environment and Blackboys' new County Councillor replied saying the markings have been inspected but 'do not currently meet the criteria for safety-critical works.'
He said there is no date for repainting and non-safety-critical markings will now wait until there is enough work in an area to make doing them more efficient.
Cllr Brandon also raised the anti-skid surfacing delaminating at the Stonebridge Lane junction. He received an acknowledgement but no comment back.
He concluded: "Frankly these road conditions are diabolical. For now I'm not done. I'll continue pushing for repairs and proper answers however frustrating the process becomes. I am fully aware of the lack of funding across the county and country but this, in my opinion, is for essential safety that is an easy win cost-wise."
He has been thanked by Blackboys residents who expressed their support via social media. Hayley Neilly said she's been campaigning for horse signs along that road. And Pete Heslop thanked him for his efforts. He said: "It must be frustrating battling against such intransigent bureaucracy.”
