St Mary’s Salehurst: are holding services this week Sunday 10th July, Trinity 7, starting with Holy Communion in the Mission Room at6 9am and then Sung Eucharist a Salehurst at 11am.

Children’s Sunday Club is taking place this week too during the Service.

Saturday July 9th is the monthly breakfast at the Salehurst Halt supporting St Mary’s. This starts at 8.30am and the speaker this month is John Hassell who is the retired Head teacher of Glynde Gap School. There will be good food, good coffee and good company. A huge thank you to all those that turned out last Wednesday evening to help with the churchyard clearance. It was wet and miserable but everyone put in an amazing effort and its now much easier for the sheep to keep it under control; Big thasnks to the crowd from Darvell who worked so hard and even managed to clear large amounts of fallen wood from around the churchyard. If anyone wants to take some of the wood away it’s stacked in by the gates at the front of the church. In return donations towards the church funds would be most welcome.

The evening finished off with a BBQ and pizzas (mostly provided by Darvell) and very welcomes after all the hard work.

The Spinettes: is a show that’s taking place on Sunday 10th July at Robertsbridge hall. West End Stars join forces bringing you hits from 1940s – 1960s. Along with the Spinettes is Matthew Goodgame and this promises to be a great evening. Tickets cost £10 per adult and £5 for children under 16. Robertsbridge Arts Partnership: are presenting Shakespeare’s classic comedy `As you like it ` on Saturday 23rd July starting at 7.30pm at Robertsbridge Hall. It is advised that you purchase your tickets early, as it is likely to be a very popular performance. A silver necklace: has been found near the clock tower. It has been handed in to Sandie at the Floral Boutique to look after until the owner is found. If you are missing a necklace or know some one that is it might just be your lucky day.

Dog mess: A resident of Mill Rise has asked me to write a piece about dog owners and the habits they get into. The same old story really but with a little twist. A woman was seen letting her dog foul on the footpath right outside the person’s house. The owner did pick it up in a bag when challenged to and then deposited the contents into the hedgerow just along the path. Again she was asked to clear it up which she did and then deposited the bag and contents in someone’s bin along the road. The person was incensed at the behaviour of the owner who was not a child or young person and should really have known better. Not everyone likes dogs and if you have one please take complete responsibility of its actions and take home with you what is deposited.

FOOTBALL: Training is on a Wednesday evening at the Recreation Ground from 6.30p.m. New players welcome to join in with our existing players. The A.G.M. is on Wednesday 27th July 2016 at 8p.m. @ Robertsbridge Club for the Senior section of the Club and not the Junior section. All are welcome to attend.

STOOLBALL: We had to switch our match last Thursday to Hooe because the Clappers field was waterlogged. The hosts were put into bat and were soon in trouble with Abigail Green[1-6] taking Beth’s[0] wicket with her third ball thanks to a catch by Ian Kitson. Judy[1] was run out and then skipper Richard Apps[1-10] had Jill[1] caught by Abigail with the score on 10-3. Jo[4] was run out and then Ginette[3] was caught by Richard from the bowling of JJ Boast[1-2] before opener Mark[11] had to retire injured. Sheila[13n.o.] stayed in while Aaron[8] was caught by Graham Clark off the bowling of Lou Taylor[1-13], Simon[4] was caught by Richard off the bowling of Graham[1-5], Ian[5] was bowled by birthday boy Callum Apps[1-10] and Carol[1n.o.] saw the hosts finish their 10 overs on 64-9. Our reply was quick with Keith Apps[26] and Sarah Clark[23 retired] sharing a 49 run opening partnership before Keith was caught which bought in JJ[38] to hit the wiinning runs before he was bowled. Charlie Apps[2] and Callum[0] went cheaply to some not very friendly bowling while Lou[4], Graham[3], Abigail[1] all went quickly to leave Penny Clark[6n.o.] and Ian[15n.o.] to see the overs out as we finished on 139-9. The Ladies played at Icklesham Tournament last Sunday and played the hosts in the first game with Lou Taylor[15], Penny Clark[28], Sarah Clark[9n.o.] and Lucy Kuhler[2n.o.] taking our total to 66-2 off the allotted 6 overs while in reply the hosts scored 90-2 with both wickets falling to run out’s. Next was Brightling who reached 83-3 with again 2 run out’s and Penny[1-11] taking a wicket but we fell just 3 runs short despite Sarah[48], Lucy[6], Lisa Fifield[6], Alisha Clark[3n.o.] and Di Kitson[2n.o.] doing there best to win. Our final match was against Pett as we reached 69-4 with Lisa[13], Alisha[5], Di[6], Lou[6], Penny[13n.o.] and Sarah[3n.o.] scoring but Pett hit 93-2 to win with both wickets again falling to run out’s. This Sunday[10th] is Civil Service’ Mixed Tournament at The Polegrove, Bexhill 10.30a.m. then on Tuesday[12th] The Mixed are away to Scorpions at Netherfield while the Ladies are away to Catsfield on Thursday[14th] with both matches starting at 7p.m.
