Rye Council looksto boost business

RYE Town Council has said it will continue to encourage all types of business and micro business to set up in the town.

The council was responding to the Rother Local Plan Core Strategy.

The council views it important to adopt policies to maintain Rye as an ancient market town while increasing visitor numbers and footfall.

It also recognises the need to consider how best to improve the impact of traffic on the ancient town.

The council says the new Neighbourhood Plan will study housing requirement needs in the Core Plan but adds that opportunities for further development is Rye are limited by the nature of the town and its topographical setting.

Development targets for new homes in Rye and Rye Harbour have been increased from 250-350 to 355- 400 by the National Planning Policy Framework .
