Security guard banned after drink driving arrest

A security guard was banned from driving for 30 months after being caught more than three times over the drink driving limit while motoring through Ninfield.

Daniel Powell, 20, of Hastings Road in Battle, appeared at Hastings Magistrates Court on Tuesday where he pleaded guilty to being over the limit.

Jeremy King, prosecuting, told the court a member of the public rang police after seeing a car driving erratically in Stocks Meadow, off Ninfield High Street.

He explained: "The officers found the car in the Kings Head pub car park. Powell was unsteady on his feet and when searched by police they found the car keys."

Powell then failed a breath test - recording a reading of 123 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.

The legal limit is just 35. Mark Glendenning, defending, said: "He made a foolish mistake.

"He went to a party and took the decision to drive home.

"This was entirely out of character and he fully accepted responsibility."

Powell was banned from driving for 30 months, given a supervision order for 18 months and ordered to attend a drink driving course.
