This Saturday December 7 Sedlescombe CE School have their annual Christmas Fayre. The doors will be open from 12noon until 3pm. News from the school PTA is as follows: we will have a variety of stalls to keep all the children amused, for the girls, hair braiding, nail art and tattooing. We also will have Mario Game for the boys and girls which the children love. There will be a Magical Santa’s Grotto to come along to and visit the great man himself, each child will receive a lovely present. There will be a secret room where children can buy gifts on their own for their parents, grandparents or loved ones. In addition to all the games and tombola’s that will be going on, we have great stands selling bric-a-brac/ books and toys with great bargains. In the food hall there will be some delicious refreshments for lunch and everyone’s taste is catered for, from savoury to those who have a sweet tooth. Do not forget to purchase some wonderful cakes to take home to enjoy. There will also be a variety of craft sellers at the Fayre so that people can buy Christmas Gifts that have been locally made. We have an amazing Raffle once again this year with a top prize of £100, we are also locally supported by businesses who donate some fantastic prizes to our Raffle. A huge thank you to the Brickwall Hotel for a meal voucher, overnight stay at Leeford Place, meal vouchers from the Queen Heads in Sedlescombe and The Red Lion in Brede, Round of Golf for 4 at Sedlescombe Golf Club , Bavarian Motorsport free Mot, LWA Workshop Free Valet, The Beauty Room at Westfield and The Clockhouse at Sedlescombe treatment Vouchers plus many other prizes.

Our hall has been beautifully decorated and would like to take this opportunity of thanking Littledown Christmas Trees at Westfield for donating our Christmas Tree in the hall, this was very generous of Jon Baker. The Fayre will be a lovely day out for all the family, so please come along to join in the fun and festivities at your local school. There is an entrance fee of 50p per adult and children are free.

Later in the month you are warmly welcome to come along and enjoy our children’s Christmas Plays this year. Our Reception children are performing their very special Nativity Play on December 11 and 12 at 9.45am in our school hall then our year 1 and 2 children are performing “Sugar Plum” on the same dates at 12.15pm in our school hall. Entry to these plays is

free, but we ask for donations as you leave for St. Michael’s Hospice.

All children in our Key Stage 2 are involved in our Junior Nativity Show called ‘Stable Story’ on Monday December 16 and Wednesday December 18 at 7pm in the Village Hall, entry £2 per person. All money raised at our KS2 Christmas plays is also for St. Michael’s Hospice.

We are going to be singing carols in the village on Thursday, December 19 between 7 to 8pm, and ask for lots of the village community to join us please. Bring a torch and wrap up warm. We will sing on the village Green first, then move to sing to our school neighbours along Gammons Way and Streetlands. The children will then go into the Brickwall Hotel to sing carols to a full restaurant. We will finish by singing together in the Queen’s Head Pub at around 8pm. We will be collecting for St.Michael’s Hospice during this evening. Please join us - just pop along to the village Green to sing along with us.

Finally, on Friday December 20 we invite our village community and friends of the school to enjoy coffee and mince pies from 9.45 to 11.00am in our school hall, our choir will sing some carols to end the morning.

There are currently two vacancies for Community Governors at Sedlescombe School. If you live or work in our local community and would like to make a difference to the education of our children, why not find out more? In particular the governors are keen to recruit people who have experience and interest in promoting sport, marketing, fundraising and/or child protection. You are invited to come along to an evening of Christmas music and mince pies at battle memorial Hall this Saturday December 7 at 8pm . The evening has been organised by Battle and Villages Lions Club in aid of charity. The Rother community choir will perform during the evening and there will be a Christmas raffle and free mince pies with a licensed bar. Tickets available in advance by calling 0845 8335826 or come along on the evening and pay on entry. The entry charge is £6 per head for the evening of music and fun. Why not start your Christmas by enjoying a relaxing evening amongst friends, whilst helping others less fortunate at this time of year.

Sedlescombe and District Flower club members look forward to their December meeting as it is time to celebrate the festive season on Wednesday December 11. Please remember you are welcome to bring your own drinks if you would like to, to accompany your meal. Doors at the usual time of 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
