Sedlescombe

The annual jumble sale on Saturday October 26 organised by the Friends of Sedlescombe church is now only a week away. there is still time to clear your unwanted clutter and donating it to this local cause. All funds from the event will directly benefit the refurbishment of the church taking place at the moment. However please do not deposit anything prior to the date at the village hall as there are no storage facilities available but it would be very welcome on the morning of the sale. Doors to the public will open from 2pm with 50p entrance fee. If you are not able to bring to the hall on the day and require collection of your donated goods then please contact Anthony on 01424 870722.

The Wednesday before last there was an incident in the village when a large branch fell from a tree across the main road in Sedlescombe. Thanks must go to a local tree surgeon for his prompt action in cutting and clearing up the tree hence clearing the road. Thanks also are due to Sedlescombe youth club who helped clear up the wood and debris.

I have been asked by a resident of Churchland Lane to ask dog owners to respect the rules of Sedlescombe sports field in regard to dog fouling. Please do not leave dog mess anywhere on the field, this facility is used regularly by adults and children in the community. I’m sure you would not wish your own family to be playing and have to deal with this problem but you should, as a responsible dog owner. Clear it up and bin it, bins are provided at the entrance to the field.

It is also a problem along Balcombe Green and in the fields there after, plastic bags there are thrown in the hedge, these do not decompose and are a ghastly sight in a beautiful area. Dispose of these responsibility for the benefit of us all and the countryside.

Unfortunately the concert mentioned in last week’s village voice to be organised by Sedlescombe St John the Baptist church for Friday October 25 has had to be cancelled.

St Michaels Hospice have their last Open garden of the season this Saturday, October 19 when Peasmarsh Place, Church Lane Peasmarsh TN31 6XE, will be open. Entry ticket is £4, open to visitors from 11.00am to 3pm raising much needed funds for this good cause. Refreshments will be available and will feature pumpkin soup and old sussex apple cake amongst other delights. For further details full programmes are available in Sedlescombe Stores.
