Angmering Bypass closes overnight for roundabout safety works

The Angmering Bypass is subject to overnight closures this week, while safety improvements are carried out at a roundabout.

The restrictions began on Tuesday (October 20), with work expected to be completed on Thursday (October 22).

That is according to a West Sussex County Council public notice.

The closure covers approximately 1,420 metres of the bypass and applies overnight only, between 8pm and 5am. An alternative route will be signposted.

The council said the work includes additional vegetation clearance, new road markings, street lighting and a new bollard installation following a safety audit.

Breheny Civil Engineering is carrying out the work, with Cala Homes named as the developer in the notice.

The notice reads: “This is a re-booking of planned works deferred following the closures of Long Furlong and Titnore lane.

"The road closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while Breheny Civil Engineering undertakes A280 Roundabout closure to allow S278 remedial safety works.”

Although completion is anticipated tomorrow, the notice allows the temporary closure to remain in force for a maximum of 21 days.

Access will be maintained for emergency services, residents and pedestrians within the closed area.
