Slow traffic is reported on the A259 Brighton Road both ways from Western Road to B2223 Ham Road, the AA said.
A spokeswoman for West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service added: “We were called to an RTC on the A259 at 7:26pm this evening (2 January) involving one private vehicle.”
She said two fire engines and the heavy rescue tender attended the scene.
