Road closures across West Sussex as repairs and improvement works take place
Drivers across West Sussex are being advised to plan ahead, as road closures and temporary traffic restrictions affect routes across the county.
Works include a gas main replacement in Chichester, emergency water main repairs at Haslemere and overnight carriageway improvements in Lindfield, Balcombe and Singleton.
In Chichester, Stockbridge Road is closed between the A27 roundabout and Grosvenor Road from October 10 until November 27 for essential gas main replacement works.
West Sussex Highways has warned that journeys are likely to take longer than usual. Pedestrian access and access for emergency services will be maintained throughout the works.

In Lindfield, the B2111 Lewes Road is scheduled to close between 8pm and 6am from October 19 to 21 for carriageway retexturing.
Paddockhurst Road in Balcombe will also close between 8pm and 6am over the same dates for carriageway surface dressing.
In Singleton, the A286 between Cobblers Row and Middlefield is due to close between 8pm and 6am from October 20 to 22 for carriageway improvements.
Emergency repairs to a burst water main have also forced the closure of the A286 Bell Road at Haslemere. In an update published on October 16, West Sussex Highways said the closure would remain in place until October 20 while South East Water completed the work.
Drivers have been advised to allow extra journey time and follow the signed diversion where applicable.
Near Bognor Regis, the left-turn lane into Yapton Road from the A259 heading towards Middleton-on-Sea is scheduled to close from October 19 until November 13.
The restriction will allow advance water diversion works as part of the A259 Bognor Regis to Littlehampton scheme. A diversion via Flansham will be signposted locally.
Works on the A29 Shripney Road and Shripney Lane are scheduled to continue until November 27 as part of a Bus Service Improvement and Community Highways Scheme.
Multi-way traffic lights are planned between 8am and 4pm, Monday to Friday, during the works, with night-time road closures scheduled for November 16 to 18.
In East Grinstead, the B2110 College Lane is due to close from October 26 to November 6 to complete bridge repairs. An alternative route will be signed on site.
Pedestrians in Crawley will also face restrictions, with a number of footpaths along and off Gossops Drive in Gossops Green scheduled to close between 8am and 6pm from October 19 to 30 for reconstruction work.
