The property show star called in at the home of Iona-May Thorne to speak to the seven-year-old’s mum, Vicki, about the scheme to radically redesign the ground floor of their house in a bid to dramatically improve the quality of life of the brave youngster.

The work, set to be featured on Channel 4 programme, Double Your House for Half the Money, will see a new ground-floor bedroom, wet room and sensory room installed, as well as a system of hoists to help Iona-May reach parts of the house more easily.

Mum Vicki said: “We’re a few weeks into the build and the house is in turmoil right now.

“There is no room in the house that doesn’t have a hole in, at the moment. But we know all the work will be worth it in the end.”

The programme on Iona-May’s home redesign will air in August.
