Development to build 27 'luxury flats' in St Leonards begins to take shape
A development to build 27 'luxury flats' in St Leonards is starting to take shape.
In May diggers were on the site in West Hill Road preparing the land for development.
Now work on the first properties has started, with scaffolding going up and the first foundations being built.
MPG (St Leonards) Limited put forward proposals to build more than 30 homes on the West Hill Road wasteland site in October 2014.

The bid submitted to Hastings Borough Council included creating new access onto West Hill Road, constructing new wall for the West Hill Road frontage, and providing landscaping, parking, earthworks and drainage.
People in the area voiced their support for the plans on the council’s planning portal.
The proposal was then approved by the council in October 2025.
The site, approximately 0.7 acres in size, went on the market for £795,000 earlier this year.

An accompanying statement on Rightmove.co.uk, when the site was marketed, read: “Set in a truly stunning coastal position, this consented site offers a rare chance to deliver a landmark residential scheme of 27 exclusive luxury flats. Designed to maximise the breath-taking sea views, each apartment has been carefully considered to provide modern, high-quality living in a secure, private environment.
“The approved scheme allows developers to create a premium residential community with no on-site affordable housing obligations, ensuring the project can be delivered without compromise on specification, finish, or design ambition.”
