Udimore

Richard Holmes, Beauchamps

At 10.45am this Sunday, national Remembrance Sunday, there will be special brief services of remembrance in both Brede and Udimore churches. It’s to be hoped that as many of you as possible will be there, to commemorate as a community the lives given for us all in both World Wars. Our service in Udimore will be conducted by Revd John Lee.

You’re reminded that there will be a cookery demonstration, “Tricks of the Trade”, in St Mary’s Community Hall on Tuesday morning (November 12), from 10.30am till 12.30pm. It’s to be given by Kyle Tatner, head chef at The Mermaid. To reserve tickets @ £15 (to include tasters, recipes and a glass of wine) please ring Nan Hacking (01424 882348). This will be a fundraising event for the Hall.

If you rely on oil for heating your home, have room for at least 500 litres of oil in your tank and haven’t previously ordered from one of the bulk buyers, you may well find that their prices are significantly lower than those your usual supplier can offer. For price comparisons, it’s worth trying The Oil Club (www.oil-club.co.uk) and Boiler Juice (www.boilerjuice.com). Though reasonably stable at present, prices seem likely to start going up again as winter approaches.
