It’s not too late to ring 0142488-3246, -2567, -3063 or -2487 if you’d like to go to the Tea Party in the Hall between 3 and 5pm on Sunday (in good company over a proper afternoon tea and cakes, with crosswords and a quiz). It’s been arranged by the Overseas Group, which will gratefully accept donations for the five missionary charities supported by the group.

If you’re over 65 or suffer from a chronic illness, this is the time of the year you’re recommended to have immunisation against ‘flu. For patients at the Broad Oak Surgery, there will be a ‘flu jab session between 2 and 3pm next Wednesday (October 23). In case you can’t make that date, there’ll be another session on Wednesday November 20, also between 2 and 3pm.

At another proper afternoon Tea Party in the Hall, next Saturday (October 26), starting at 3pm prompt, there will be a talk by Dickie Dengate, about some of his interesting and amusing experiences as a fruit farmer, both in this country and in Uganda. This is a fundraising event for the Friends of St Mary’s Church: tickets cost £5 and may be booked in advance by ringing Geraldine Edwards (01424 883021).
