VOTERS SAY COUNCIL IS WRONG

VOTERS on the lewestoday web site have given a resounding thumbs down to Lewes District Council's challenge over the building of a football stadium at Falmer.

Twelve per cent of people voting said the council was right while 87 per cent of the votes cast believe the council is wrong to mount a High Court challenge.

Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott has given permission for Brighton and Hove Albion FC to build a community stadium at Falmer.

It is not known when the council's challenge will be heard by the High Court.
