Billy Gilmour describes move from Brighton to Chelsea as a 'no brainer'

The 21-year-old became the latest addition to Graham Potter’s squad – signing a four-year deal with Albion for an initial fee of £9 million.

Hide AdWhen asked about his decision to leave Stamford Bridge, Gilmour said: “Of course it was a tough decision but I wanted to play football.
"That’s the main aim for me, to come in and enjoy my football and get regular game-time. It was a bit of a no-brainer.”
Gilmour was keen to leave Chelsea, after finding out he was not a part of head coach Thomas Tuchel’s first team plans, with the Seagulls being his preferred destination.

Hide AdMany were unsure whether the move would be permanent or a season-long loan – due to Chelsea’s current midfielder issues.
However, thanks to the signing of Denis Zakaria from Juventus on loan, Gilmour was allowed to leave West London on a long-term basis.
Gilmour said: “It took a long time, there was a lot of back and forth between Chelsea and Brighton.

“For me, Brighton play great football with a style I like to play. The manager is highly thought of as well so I was keen to come here.”
