Brighton issue Ferdi Kadioglu and Costinha update ahead of Getafe and Brentford
All the latest team and injury news for Brighton and Hove Albion ahead of a Conference League clash in Madrid
Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler hopes to have full back Ferdi Kadioglu available for the Conference League clash at Getafe on Thursday.
Kadioglu, 26, injured his hip during the 2-0 loss at Liverpool and missed Brighton's Carabao Cup defeat and Premier league win, both against Manchester City.
The Turkey international now hopes to be available for the Conference League trip to Madrid to face Getafe, who are 12th in La Liga.
Brighton then return to Premier League action on Sunday as they welcome Keith Andrews’ sixth placed Brentford to the Amex Stadium.
"No [it’s not more seriosu], he trained yesterday but he still felt it," said Hurzeler to Sussex World after the 1-0 win at Manchester City. "Therefore we had to make a decision that makes sense.
"Hopefully he can recover now the next days. We have one more day than usual so I'm quite positive there's an option for Thursday [against Getafe]."
Costinha impressed
Hurzeler though does have options in the right back role. Costinha - who arrived for around £10m from Olympiacos last summer - was excellent in the win at City and dealt well with the threat of Belgian winger Jeremy Doku.
"Everyone saw it or knew it," said Hurzeler to Sussex World at the Etihad Stadium. "He maybe played against the best winger in the league but how he managed it was really impressive.
"And we knew that he's a really good defender. We knew also that he has this physicality. But for me, I think it's also important that everyone understands what the body is capable of doing.
"He played 90 minutes on Wednesday, he played today 90 minutes. He's in a very impressive shape and of course he got also the help from his teammates.
"It's not only one against one, it was the help from his teammates. They really stick together, try to close the spaces around him.
“If the team is successful, then of course individual players get picked out and Costinha definitely deserves it today."
