'I can tell you' - Brighton star Bart Verbruggen answers transfer question amid La Liga interest

Conference League: Getafe vs Brighton and Hove Albion - Thursday, 8pm

Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen dismissed recent reports linking him with a move to La Liga.

Verbruggen, 22, was on media duties with head coach Fabian Hurzeler ahead of their Conference League clash at Madrid-based club Getafe.

Spanish reporters were keen to know if the Dutch goalkeeper was interested in a move Spain amid recent links to Real Madrid and Barcelona.

“I don't know what will happen in the future. No one knows. All I know is that, at the moment, I'm very happy in Brighton.

“We have a great team. We have a good squad. We play some very good football and I really look forward to playing here on a Spanish pitch tomorrow. That I can tell you.

“What happens in the future, no one knows, but I'm really enjoying my time in Brighton and I look forward to the game and to the rest of the season, for sure.”

Verbruggen joined Brighton in 2023 for around £15m from Belgian club Anderlecht. He has made 118 appearances for Brighton with 35 clean sheets and is contracted until 2028.

Five away days for Brighton

Albion’s clash against Getafe is their fifth consecutive away trip. Verbruggen feels as though the time on the road has helped to bond the team further.

Verbruggen added: "Obviously, physically it is a little bit harder if you play away because you have the travelling. When you're at home, you don't have to do that, which helps," he said.

"But I also think it was nice. I have enjoyed it. You spend a lot of time together. Like you said, we have a great togetherness in the team; we enjoy spending time together.

"We enjoy the time in the hotel, on the planes, everywhere. It's been a bit of both. I wouldn't call us a rock band, but we had some fun for sure."
