Brighton's predicted XI at Coventry: Femi Azeez and Georginio injury update - Yasin Ayari decision
Coventry vs Brighton in the Premier League from the Coventry Arena - Sunday, 2pm
Brighton midfielder Yasin Ayari will hope to put contract uncertainty to one side at Coventry City this afternoon.
The Sweden international will likely take his place in the heart of the Albion midfield as he returns to one his loan clubs.
Brighton signed Ayari from AIK in 2023 for around £6m and spent time on loan at Coventry and then Blackburn.
Brighton are said to be talks on a new deal for the midfielder who has thrived in the Premier League under head coach Fabian Hurzeler.
He's certainly performed better in the Premier League than he did in the Championship for Coventry. Ayari described his loans as "total s**t" but Hurzeler was far more diplomatic in his response.
The German said: "Yes, that’s interesting because I see it a little bit similar, this development with Malick [Yalcouye].
“I think in some ways the Championship can educate the players. But in some ways the Championship can be also a disadvantage for some profiles.
"It is always understanding what is the profile of the player? What does the Championship demand from the player? Does the style of play from the team fit the player?
“I think there is a set of reasons why sometimes loans are working and sometimes not. But overall we are happy with these kinds of players who show great effort for us, who show a great understanding."
Anyway, Ayari is expected to start and Brighton will also hope to have Femi Azeez and Georginio available after injury.
Brighton predicted XI
Bart Verbruggen - GK: The Dutch international struggled at Chelsea but Hurzeler praised his display after the 1-1 draw against Leeds United.
Costinha - RB: I think the Portuguese summer arrival may get the nod ahead of Ferdi Kadioglu for this one. Mats Wieffer remains sidelined.
Lewis Dunk - CB: His goal line clearance in the first half against Leeds was vital last week. His experience also helps his youthful defensive partner Luka Vuskovic.
Luka Vuskovic - CB: The £50m man scored his first goal for Brighton against Leeds last week. Looks a super signing already.
Olivier Boscagli - LB: The French defender has started the season very well and could slot in at left back for this one.
Yasin Ayari - CM: The Sweden international described his previous loan at Coventry as "total s**t". Honesty is always the best policy.
Pascal Gross - CM: The experienced German missed a sitter in the dying moments against Leeds. He's vital for Brighton though.
Diego Gomez - RW: The Paraguayan takes some stick from the fans at times. Not quite sure why, he's a great player. Will likely start on the right in Yankuba Minteh's continued absence. Deadline day arrival Femi Azeez could be available from the bench after recovering from injury.
Malick Yalcouye - No 10: What a start to the season this young midfielder has had. Taking his opportunity well and should get another chance to shine.
Maxim De Cuyper - LW: The Belgian international has looked sharp on the left so far but Brighton have missed the hamstrung Kaoru Mitoma.
Charalampos Kostoulas - CF: He played well against Leeds without reward. Georginio may be back but I expect Kostoulas to lead the line again.
