The transfer state of play at Brighton explained as Matt O'Riley mystery continues ahead of 11pm deadline

All the latest transfer deadline day news for Brighton and Hove Albion

Brighton fans are bracing themselves for the end of the summer transfer window.

So far, Albion have spent around £150m this window as they smashed their transfer record to bring in Luka Vuskovic from Tottenham for £50m.

Zadok Yohanna, Jaouen Hadjam, Pascal Struijk and Costinha were other notable additions, while the Seagulls also put the final touches of Femi Azeem's £15m deadline day deal from Millwall.

Azeem in, Cozier Duberry out

Azeem's arrival allows Amario Cozier-Duberry, who has signed a new contract, to leave on loan. Middlesbrough are keen on Cozier-Duberry.

Azeem is now expected to challenge Yankuba Minteh for a place on the right wing as sources close the club suggest Minteh will not be going to Liverpool.

Brighton previously rejected bids of £50m and £60m for their Gambian winger and it's uncertain as yet if Liverpool will return with an improved bid in the final hours.

Overall, it's been another significant outlay for the Seagulls but they have pretty much broke even due to the big money sales of Jan Paul van Hecke (£50m) to Tottenham and Carlos Baleba (£70m) to Manchester United.

Albion also reduced their wage bill as senior professionals Adam Webster, Joel Veltman, Solly March, James Milner and Danny Welbeck all left.

Will O’Riley stay?

There's also uncertainty around Matt O'Riley's situation at Brighton.

The former Celtic man looked highly likely to leave this window with Roma and and Atalanta said to be keen.

O'Riley was well down the pecking order at Brighton but injuries in the No 10 role to Jack Hinshelwood and Georginio handed O'Riley another chance.

He started Albion's Uefa Conference League second leg play-off win against Tromso last week and - if he stays - will likely be involved in upcoming matchday squads.

However, Turkish club Fenerbache reportedly came in with a deadline day offer for Albion's £25m signing.

Fenerbache are apparently keen on a loan but at this stage Brighton are said to be cool on the idea, most likely due to their early season injury issues. It's one to keep a close eye on as we enter the final hours.

Hurzeler on O’Riley

Sussex World asked head coach Fabian Hurzeler about O’Riley after the Tromso victory.

“First of all, I wouldn't say that the injury forced this decision,” said the German, “We still had other opportunities to replace Jack [Hinshelwood].

“O’Riley deserved it, because of good training sessions, because of how he presents as a player, as a person, also as a team player.

“Coming into the team in a big game, in a very important game for us as a club, and he did his job well. He struggled at the end with the physicality, but he suffered, he sacrificed a lot for the team, and that's something I really want to emphasise, because that's what we need here, that's what we all really appreciate.

“And let's see how we will decide regarding his future, but overall I'm happy to have him.”

Evan Ferguson and Genoa

Also, talk on Evan Ferguson has gone very quiet. The Ireland international is currently out with a long-standing ankle issue but Italian club Genoa are still considering the 21-year-old.

On Ferguson, Hurzeler added: “We see the progress [on the ankle injury] we see the development, but we have to be patient as well.

“I think he can be faster than Steph [Tzimas], but let's see also with him, I don't want to give a clear schedule when he can be ready to play.”

It looks set to be a very, very busy final few hours of the window and you can follow it all in our dedicated live blog here
