Exclusive:'Yes they can' - Michael Owen makes Brighton Uefa Conference League prediction amid Fabian Hurzeler claim

Uefa Conference League: FK Jablonec vs Brighton and Hove Albion at the Stadion Střelnice - Thursday, 5.45pm

Former England striker Michael Owen believes Brighton can win the Conference League this season.

The Seagulls - who are third in the Premier League - take on Czech Republic outfit FK Jablonec in matchday two in the league phase of Europe's third tier competition.

Brighton enjoyed a 4-0 victory in their first European match of the season as they beat Lithuanian League leaders FK Kauno Zalgiris 4-0 at the Amex Stadium.

Premier League clubs Chelsea, West Ham and Crystal Palace have all won the tournament in recent seasons and Owen feels Brighton can do the same.

"The way they are playing at the minute yes they can," said Owen to Sussex World, as ambassador of Casino.org where UK players can find reliable online casino information.

"They have got some unbelievable players and I think Brighton are everyone's second team.

"The way they play, the way they source players and sometimes have to sell their best players and they keep coming back for more and keep surprising.

"It's just a great model and a great success story. So, yeah, they continue to surprise.

"I wouldn't be surprised if they had a great European campaign now."

Brighton recruit to attack

Brighton are the top scorers in the Premier League with 23 goals so far this term and Fabian Hurzeler's men also have 34 in all competitions - only Bayern Munich and Barcelona have scored more across Europe's top leagues.

Owen added: "They play a certain way. They've always played in an expansive way.

"They try to attack and score goals. They're not really a team that just sit in and try to play on the counter attack. They like the ball.

"I think they recruit for that, not just with their players, but with their managers.

"There's a lot of work that goes into sourcing these managers and players.

"So, they've got a real style throughout their club and it looks from the outside a very, very well-run club.

"Scoring goals, creating chances, that's just what they do.

Hurzeler is tops

"And Hurzeler is doing really well this season. They had a decent season last season.

"That's the measure of where they've come to. They finish in a good position in the league, but you almost think that's just standard for Brighton nowadays.

"When you're talking about relegation, you don't even give Brighton a second thought.

"They're just an established, very, very good, solid team in the Premier League. It's great to see them doing so well."
