Crawley Town player ratings: Two 8s and a 7 for debutant as Reds draw at Cobblers

Crawley were held to a frustrating 1–1 draw away to Northampton as the Reds were unable to break down the home side who had been reduced to ten men early into the second half.

Nathan Opoku put the Cobblers ahead seven minutes before the break after a fairly even contest up to that point.

Here are our player ratings:

Jackson Izquierdo - 6: Could have done a lot better for Northampton’s goal in the first half by coming out to smother the ball after a poor first touch from Opoku should have invited the keeper to close him down. Apart from that he didn’t have much to do on his Crawley debut.

Charlie Barker – 6: Not a lot to say on the 23 year old’s performance other than another solid performance from the defender. Moved the ball well from the back in both halves with slightly different instructions because of the red card.

Priestley Farquharson – 6: The centre-back had a very shaky start to the game but settled in and looked fairly comfortable. He did well to track runs deep and pinch the ball in good areas.

Louie Watson – 8: Alongside Kamara was by far Crawley’s best player in the first half. He picked up some great positions in and around the box, particularly out wide where he delivered some brilliant first time crosses across the face of goal.

Pemi Aderoju – 6: The Peterborough loanee was very quiet in the first half not seeing a lot of the ball in the first half and not many chances came his way either.

Osman Kamara – 8: The youngster was a bright attacking spark for Crawley in the first half taking on the Northampton full backs and causing havoc but just lacking the final pass or dribble.

Jude Arthurs – 7: Peeled out wide a lot in the first half to help with Crawley’s build. Dictated the play very well when he became the extra man in the first after Evans sending off in the 55th minute. Ade Adeyemo – 6: Grew into the game and saw a lot more of the ball in the second half but like much of Crawley’s attack in the second 45, lacked that cutting edge and clinicalness.

Akin Odimayo – 6: Filling in at full back for the Reds at the moment and has done a fairly decent job bearing in mind his strengths don’t quite match how aggressive Colin Kazim-Richards likes his full backs to be.

Klaudio Krasniqi - 6: Wasn’t as effective in the build up as usual having been isolated through the press and the way Crawley wanted to build.

Dylan Morgan – 7: Twisted Northampton full backs inside and out, and was a real threat throughout the game until he was withdrawn. He was the victim of the challenge from Lee Evans which saw him shown red.

Substitutes:

Danilo Orsi – 6: Thought he had put Crawley ahead only for the flag to be raised against him; other than that chance he was relatively quiet.

Dion Pereira – 7: Had a near zero to hero moment when he came on after he gave the ball away to nearly see Sam Hoskins put the home side ahead before converting rebound down the other end. Looked very sharp for someone who has just come back from injury.

Jonny Russell – 6: Didn’t have to do much defensive work when he came on, delivered a few hoisted crosses into the box but nothing much came of it.
