Former Tottenham prospect and QPR teenager join Worthing - as defender moves to Spain

The ins and outs continue at a hectic pace at Worthing FC ahead of their debut season in the National League – with two more signings and one departure announced in a hectic 24-hour spell.

First they announced a deal with Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers for the loan of highly-rated teenage full-back Cory Adjetey-Brew.

After impressing against Adam Hinshelwood’s side in last week’s pre-season friendly for QPR’s Development Squad against the National League South champions at the Sussex Transport Community Stadium, the Reds have opted to recruit the teenager to bolster our defensive options.

Worthing said: “A physically strong left-back, the 18-year-old has represented the West Londoners since his release from Arsenal in 2024. Despite his tender age, this is not the first time the newest Red has taken the plunge into senior football. Last season, the defender was exposed to the demands of senior football in the Isthmian League Premier Division with Welling United.

“Fresh off signing his first professional contract with the R’s earlier on this month, a stint at Woodside Road represents another formative and tangible step in his burgeoning career.”

Adjetey-Brew said: “This is a big step in my footballing career – I just want to keep pushing and hopefully I do well."

Boss Adam Hinshelwood said: “We are delighted to welcome Cory to the Club. Last week, he played excellently against us and really stood out to myself and the management team. He’s a really strong full-back who showed great athleticism, getting up and down the line in a brilliant mannner.”

On Tuesday afternoon Worthing announced the signing of teenage starlet Ramell Carter on a loan deal from new Premier League side Hull City until January 2027, subject to FA approval.

The 18-year-old takes Hinshelwood’s signings to double figures for the summer, with the attack-minded creator able to play in various positions across the front three.

Ramell rose to stardom as a 11-year-old while on the books at Tottenham Hotspur’s academy, with a series of viral videos attracting over 100,000 subscribers on YouTube and catapulting the youngster into the public eye and on the radar of almost every notable academy in the country.

He transitioned from north London to Lincolnshire in 2024 in a move to Hull City. After a couple of seasons of scoring at will for their U18s and U21s side, Carter signed his first professional contract with the Tigers in February 2026.

This summer, the talent has been tipped for a move on loan to Football League clubs, but all parties mutually agreed Woodside was the best destination for his development. It’s Carter’s first foray into senior football, with the 18-year-old embracing the challenge of competing in the National League with the Reds.

“When I heard Worthing were interested, it made me really happy and I cannot wait to get started,” Carter told the Worthing FC website.

Hinshelwood said: “Ramell is a player with huge potential, a left-footed attack-minded player who has great balance, delivery and can play anywhere across the front line.

“He’s a player we feel can get the fans on the edge of their seat every time he gets the ball. Alongside Cory, we have brought in two very promising young players who we are delighted to have join us.”

Ramell signed terms in time to be available for Tuesday evening’s friendly against Brighton & Hove Albion U21s at the Sussex Transport Community Stadium.

But one familiar face from the squad who won’t now be part of the National League adventure is defender Sam Beard – after an agreement was reached between Worthing and Spanish side CD Atlético de Marbella Balompie for his transfer.

Worthing said: “Alongside representing the Albicelestes as a player, Sam will also work as a coach in their academy systems, contributing to several teams and age groups.

"A phoenix club born out of the ashes of the now defunct CA Marbella in 2010, the senior set-up joined forces with the Marbella Paraiso academy in 2022 to form a more traditional football club structure.

"Beardy’s new employers achieved an identical historic promotion to the Reds a few months ago. Victory over UD Maracena in the promotion play-off final means the team will compete in the Tercera Federación- the fifth tier of Spanish football – for the first time in their existence.

"The migration to Southern Spain signifies the end of a success-laden two-year spell with the Rebels for the full-back, who became renowned for his bravery, tough tackling and uncompromising defensive style while at the Sussex Transport Community Stadium.

"Arriving in West Sussex in 2024 following a spell with Sussex rivals Eastbourne Borough, the defender was the first signing of the Chris Agutter era and quickly emerged as one of the leaders in the dressing room. As a result, Beard was awarded the role as Vice-Captain, which ended up with the 28-year-old possessing the captain’s armband on multiple occasions in the absence of fellow full-back Joel Colbran.

"After cementing himself as mainstay in the 2024/25 season in the left side of defence as the Reds missed out on the National League South title by a single point, Beardy’s second full campaign was plagued by injury. A knee injury caused him to sit on the sidelines for a four-month spell, but he returned in time to play a instrumental part in our league title triumph.

"The departing Red started eight out of our final nine matches of the 2025/26 campaign, with seven victories during that decisive period ultimately proving pivotal in the eventual coronation as league champions. In total, Beard made 69 appearances across all competitions for the Club, scoring once in the 4-3 away win over Horsham.

"Sam leaves with the best wishes of everyone at the Football Club, who sincerely thank him for his efforts and contributions while at Woodside Road. Good luck Beardy!”
