'It sounds weird, but it's the truth' - Colin Kazim-Richards says Crawley Town are progressing despite results
Colin Kazim-Richards believes his side are progressing despite the poor start to the season.
Just one win in six games means Reds are currently 23rd in the League table - and fans are fearing the worst again after a couple of seasons of being in a relegation battle.
The Reds boss knows results have not been good enough but feels they are moving in the right direction. But does the former Derby County striker feel pressure at the moment?
“There's pressure all the time when you're a manager,” he said. “Everything you do well, it's the manager, you do bad, it's the manager and you know that coming into the job. So in terms of that it is what it is.I've always been honest with you guys, I've never hid from anything.

“It's exactly what it is. The results haven't been good enough, fact. But when you're in a process, it's very easy to look at results and not see the process and we've got to keep, me especially, coaching staff, especially.
“The team, we have to believe in it and we see the processes, we've got it in detail and there are some things that we are doing very good at and there are other things that we're not doing so good at.”
And one of the ‘other things’ at the moment is unforced errors. Reds seem to concede every time there is an error and Kazim-Richards wants to address that.
He said: “We've got to limit our errors, we really do. Because we're trying to play a certain way, we're trying to be attacking football, we're trying to go forward. And when we make unforced errors yourself, we're turning the ball over, which is creating opportunities that we're getting punished for.
“I think if you looked at the last game, it's three shots on target and they scored three goals, from our mistakes, so. When it is a results business and you're looking at the results, it's not good enough, but in other aspects we're progressing. It sounds weird, but it's the truth.”
The defeat to Cheltenham was Kazim-Richards’s 15th competitive game in charge of the Reds, which his first head coach role. Has being the main man been tougher than he was expecting?
“It's exactly what I expected, to be honest with you,” he said. “There's a lot of lingering factors and stuff like that, but it is exactly what I came in for. I'm not going to have a violin out in terms of and reel off a list of lingering factors and lingering trauma from whatever it is it is exactly what I thought it would be. I have just got to deal with it.”
