The East Sussex Arts Club welcomed artist Helen Taylor from Dungeness Gallery to their October meeting.

Helen demonstrated painting a pair of lions in watercolour. Her demo was a masterclass in paying close attention to detail, and in building up colour gradually in a series of delicate washes, while softening hard edges with a damp brush. The effect was life-like but always painterly.

The month’s competition was won by Jenny Rouse with a lively study of a spaniel.

The next event is the Club’s annual general meeting at 2pm on Saturday 14th November at St John’s Church hall in Brittany Road.

The AGM is a convivial occasion. Members are urged to come along to have their say in how the Club is run and to find out about next year’s programme.

Julie Marshall will be giving a talk on notable artists who have been ESAC members over the last 100 years.

Refreshments are provided, and there is a members competition with prizes: any subject, any medium.
