Mako robotic-assisted surgery uses a CT scan to create a personalised 3D surgical plan tailored to each patient's anatomy before they enter theatre. During the procedure, the surgeon remains in full control while using the robotic-arm system to support precise bone preparation and implant positioning, helping to deliver a highly personalised approach to hip replacement surgery.

The introduction of robotic-assisted hip replacement at Goring Hall Hospital represents the latest investment in innovative surgical technology, enhancing the hospital's ability to offer patients access to advanced orthopaedic treatments closer to home.

"We are delighted to have successfully completed the first Mako robotic-assisted hip replacement at Goring Hall Hospital. This technology allows us to create a personalised surgical plan based on each patient's individual anatomy and supports a high degree of precision throughout the procedure."

"Introducing robotic-assisted hip replacement provides patients in Worthing and the surrounding communities with access to advanced orthopaedic care locally. While robotic technology is one of several options available, it is another important tool that can help us deliver tailored treatment for appropriate patients."

"This achievement would not have been possible without the dedication, expertise and preparation of our theatre team. Their collaboration and commitment have been instrumental in bringing this technology to Goring Hall Hospital."

Goring Hall Hospital offers a comprehensive orthopaedic service, supporting patients with hip and knee arthritis, sports injuries and a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions.
