A Season of Progress, Silverware and a Bright Future

Hailsham Cricket Club can reflect on another successful season in 2026, with silverware, strong performances across the senior and junior sections, and continued growth both on and off the field.

Saturday League Cricket

All five Saturday league sides secured mid-table finishes, with plenty of positives to take into the 2027 season.

The 1st XI and 5th XI were both firmly in the promotion picture until the closing stages of the season, narrowly missing out after encouraging campaigns.

The 2nd XI secured their place in Division 5 East for another season thanks to a fantastic final-week victory over Ditchling, demonstrating the determination and character within the squad.

Meanwhile, the 3rd and 4th XIs enjoyed solid seasons, comfortably establishing themselves in their respective divisions following promotion in 2025.

Ladies' Cricket Continues to Flourish

The Ladies' XI enjoyed an outstanding campaign, taking the league title race right down to the final fixture away at Horsham. Although the result did not go their way, the team can take enormous pride in their achievements.

Under a new coaching setup, the squad showed significant improvement throughout the summer, with growing confidence, stronger performances and a real sense of togetherness. The foundations are firmly in place for another exciting season in 2027.

More Silverware for the Club

There was further success in the club's midweek competitions, with the Roses retaining the Sussex Slam title for an incredible fifth consecutive season, defeating Horsham on Finals Day.

The Royals also enjoyed another excellent campaign, successfully defending the Hobden Trophy and progressing to the county finals. Although they narrowly missed out on further silverware, reaching the final was another fantastic achievement.

Winning two trophies in 2026 highlights the quality, depth and competitive spirit running throughout the club.

Junior Cricket – The Future Looks Bright

The club's junior section continues to go from strength to strength, with all eight junior teams finishing in the top three of their respective leagues.

There were some exceptional individual performances along the way, with several Hailsham youngsters finishing at the top of their league's batting and bowling statistics.

A special mention must go to the Under-10s, who were crowned Eastern Tournament champions before progressing to the Sussex County Finals at Arundel. Competing against some of the strongest junior sides in the county, they achieved an impressive sixth-place finish from twelve teams.

These achievements reflect the hard work of the players, coaches and parents, and demonstrate the exciting young talent progressing through the club.

A Growing Club with Ambitions for 2027

One of the most encouraging aspects of 2026 was the arrival of 22 new players making their league debuts for Hailsham Cricket Club. This included five players joining the Roses, eight juniors and nine players representing the club in Saturday league cricket.

Welcoming new faces across all sections is vital to the club's continued development and demonstrates the positive direction in which Hailsham is heading.

Looking ahead, preparations for 2027 are already well underway, with two exciting new 1st XI signings secured and ambitions to strengthen the squad further.

The club is always keen to welcome new members, whether experienced cricketers looking for a fresh challenge, former players considering a return to the game, or complete beginners wanting to give cricket a go.

With opportunities for men, women, boys and girls of all ages and abilities, there really is a place for everyone at Hailsham Cricket Club.

A Huge Thank You to Our Volunteers

Finally, none of the club's achievements would be possible without the incredible dedication of its volunteers.

From the grounds teams preparing pitches week after week, to the bar staff, coaches, scorers, umpires, administrators and committee members, countless hours are given behind the scenes to ensure the club continues to thrive.

Their commitment is the heartbeat of Hailsham Cricket Club, and the club is enormously grateful to every individual who contributes their time and effort.

The Future Is Bright at Hailsham Cricket Club

With a growing membership, a thriving junior section, competitive senior teams and exciting ambitions for the future, there is plenty to look forward to as the club prepares for the 2027 season.

After another memorable summer, the message is simple: Hailsham Cricket Club is continuing to grow, develop and build towards an even brighter future.
