Hastings mother-daughter duo named double finalists at the UK Small Business Awards

A local cleaning business is celebrating a major milestone after being shortlisted in not one, but two categories at The UK Small Business Awards - a national celebration of small business excellence.

The Cleaning Trolls, run by mother-daughter duo Samantha Greenhalf and Paula Greenhalf, has been officially named a finalist for both Best Cleaning Business and Best Family Business.

What makes the achievement all the more impressive is how quickly the business has established itself. Despite being a young, newly launched enterprise, the pair set out from day one to shake up the local cleaning scene. Beyond transparent fixed pricing, they went above and beyond standard checks by securing full professional compliance - including ICO data protection registration, an official waste carrier licence, and comprehensive health and safety certifications.

In a joint statement, the mother-daughter team said: "When we decided to set up The Cleaning Trolls, we knew we wanted to build something a bit different to the traditional cleaning company. As a new business, we wanted to offer complete peace of mind right from the start, but at the heart of it all, we just love meeting lovely local people and taking the daily stress out of managing a home. To find out we are national finalists for both Best Cleaning Business and Best Family Business so early in our journey is mind-blowing, and we are so grateful to every client who supports us."

The standard of competition was remarkably high across the country. A spokesperson for The UK Small Business Awards noted:

“The standard of entries this year has been incredibly high. Each finalist has demonstrated an exceptional level of dedication and achievement, representing the very best of UK small businesses.”

As finalists, The Cleaning Trolls stand among the top small businesses in the UK. The winners will be announced at a national ceremony on 19 December 2026 at The Eastside Rooms in Birmingham, where the UK Top 10 will be revealed live on stage and live-streamed worldwide.

Whether taking home the top trophy in December or not, the mother-daughter team are already celebrating the double nomination as a massive early victory for their family-run business.
