Billingshurst once again failed to take their chances and a disappointing performance overall meant they eventually fell to a heavy defeat away at East Grinstead.

On 11 minutes the away side didn’t deal with a corner and Dan Perry rifled home from a narrow angle through a host of bodies.  The home team continued to dominate without really creating any chances of note. On 40 minutes, the pressure finally paid off but not without the assistance of ‘hurst who gave the ball away cheaply.  The subsequent pass found Perry in the centre of the goalmouth and he converted with ease. For the last 5 minutes of the half, Billingshurst showed some belief and following a corner Morgan Prill finished with a shot through a morass of players to go in 2-1 down at half-time.

All the positivity of that goal was to no avail at the start of the 2nd half when once again a Billingshurst defender gave the ball away in his own area & Josh Nandra gratefully accepted the gift. That goal seemed to deflate the away side & momentum continued with East Grinstead. On 68 minutes, Alex Malins was the first to react at a corner to make it 4-1. Perry completed his hat-trick on 80 and Kieron Pamment completed the scoring.

To their credit Billingshurst continued to create chances and U18 player Albie Gooda was unlucky to not open his senior account when the Grinstead keeper twice saved from him in a 1 on 1. Final score 6-1 and a fully deserved victory for East Grinstead Town. Billingshurst scoring once from their 14 shots and Grinstead converting 6 from their 17 probably sums up the game.

Billingshurst Manager Eddie French commented "We were reasonably content at half time but it was a big lesson for our lads in  the second half today. Fair play to them for punishing us but that’s why they pay the money. We take it on the chin and attention turns  immediately on the next one"
