A love of cricket has inspired the creation of a new card game designed to bring the excitement, tactics and decisions of the sport to the tabletop.
Between the Wickets Card Game has been developed by local creator Nick Eager, who has taken the idea from its early stages through to a finished pack of professionally printed cards, complete with rules and a score sheet.
The game brings together batting, bowling and the decisions that make cricket so fascinating. Players use different batting shots and bowling deliveries, with the aim of recreating some of the tactical challenges of a cricket match in an accessible card-game format.
The project has involved developing the rules, designing the cards and producing a complete set that players can use to learn and enjoy the game.
Nick is now looking to introduce Between the Wickets to a wider audience, including cricket clubs, retailers and cricket enthusiasts who might enjoy a different way of experiencing the sport.
The game is intended to appeal to cricket lovers and provide an opportunity for people to enjoy the strategy of cricket away from the pitch.
With the cards now produced and the game’s website available at www.betweenthewickets.co.uk, the next step is to get the game in front of more people.
For Nick, the project represents the satisfaction of taking an idea and turning it into a real product that others can pick up and play.
