Another big weekend for the village, with the Horticultural Society’s Autumn Show on Saturday. If you haven’t entered before, do give it a try, you don’t even have to be green-fingered, as there are classes for photographs, ketchup and jam as well as vegetables, fruit, flowers and flower arranging. It’s always great fun and the committee members are on hand to show you the ropes, if needed.

It costs the  princely sum of 20p to enter a class, and you don’t have to be a member to take part. Have a look at the schedule (available on the Horticultural Society’s website) and walk around the garden ticking off what you could do – five tomatoes, one dahlia, three garden herbs – all achievable. And it’s so good to take part in a great rural tradition. If you don’t enter, you can still enjoy seeing all the exhibits in the afternoon from 2.30pm with prize-giving at 4pm.

Fitsteps will be in the Village Hall on Monday, with Rother Fitness and Table Tennis on Tuesday.

The WI meet on Tuesday afternoon at 2pm in the Village Hall, and will be having a talk on CSI and forensics, which should be very interesting

Zumba is in the Village Hall on Wednesday, with Table Tennis in Pretious Sports Hall at 7pm. There are now 5 tables, so plenty of opportunity to enjoy a game.

The Seniors’ Club meets in the Village Hall each Thursday morning for chat, a home-cooked meal and some form of entertainment. New members are always welcome, so contact Denise – 07858 145155 – if you know someone who would enjoy a social day out. 10.30am to 2pm. Lifts can be arranged.

The Nat West mobile bank calls 2.45-3.30pm on Thursdays, in the Village Hall car park, and the Library is open 2-4pm on Thursdays and Saturdays.

The Parish Council meets at 7pm on Thursday in the Village Hall, and all residents are invited to attend.

And we look forward to Mike Hatchard’s concert on 12th September, 7pm in St Mary’s Church. He will be playing jazz classics, around a performance of Rhapsody in Blue. Tickets are £10, and there will be drinks on sale in the interval.

And how about creating a Guy for this year’s Guy Competition in the lead up to our Bonfire Procession and Fireworks on Saturday 3rd October? Guys will be appearing across the village from 19th September, so time to look out some old clothes and get creative!
