The University of Chichester has invested more than £5,000 in new eco-friendly equipment as part of its recently launched Film Production degree.

The new set flats, used to create walls and interior spaces for film and television productions, are made from 100% recyclable cardboard by Vectar Sets[RP1] and provide students with professional-standard facilities while reducing the environmental impact of film production.
The investment adds to the University's Film School impressive facilities, which already include a green-screen stage, a motion capture studio, television and film production spaces, and a large-scale sound stage.

Darren Mapletoft, Senior Lecturer and Programme Co-ordinator, said: "Our new set provides students with so many opportunities to create a variety of scenes and production environments.
"The flats are extremely lightweight compared to our traditional wooden stage flats, making it quick and easy to reconfigure sets. We can also combine the flats with our large portable monitors and giant video wall to create realistic views through windows and doorways, adding to the professional feel of our productions.
"This investment gives students hands-on experience with the latest industry practices while also supporting more sustainable approaches to filmmaking."
Students on the new degree will have access to a range of industry-standard facilities, including:
· A 250-square-metre, three-storey sound stage, one of only a handful in the UK capable of accommodating large-scale productions and even a professional orchestra.
· A dedicated green screen and motion capture studio supporting visual effects, virtual production and contemporary screen storytelling.
· Professional TV and film production studios with green room facilities, enabling students to work in broadcast-ready environments.
The facilities allow students to undertake ambitious productions at scale, preparing them for careers across the film, television and creative industries.
Students also benefit from post-production resources, including edit suites, a Soho-standard dubbing and mastering suite and a screening room to showcase their work.
