Barratt David Wilson Homes has welcomed the Government’s commitment to improving housing affordability and helping more first-time buyers onto the property ladder, following the Budget announcement.

The West Sussex housebuilder is currently building new homes at Highgrove in Bosham, Nursery Fields in North Bersted, Fossil Bay in Bracklesham and Sylvan Meadows in Arundel.
As part of the Budget announcements on 28th October 2026, the Government announced several housing measures, covering first time buyers, affordable housing, and supporting the delivery of new-build homes.
Measures included the Your First Home Scheme, which aims to help 70,000 people achieve homeownership, alongside an additional £1.5 billion for social and affordable housing to support the delivery of 10,000 homes across England.
Rob Hart, MD at Barratt David Wilson Homes Southampton division said:
“We welcome measures that can help turn the aspiration of homeownership into a reality for more people. We look forward to seeing how these commitments translate into practical support for buyers and help sustain the delivery of new homes in our region.”
Barratt David Wilson Homes Southampton division is part of the wider Barratt Redrow Group – the largest housebuilder in the UK.
Dean Banks, CEO of Barratt Redrow, said the commitment to the Government’s Your First Home policy was a positive step towards making homeownership more accessible and supporting the delivery of much-needed new homes across the country.
He said: “We welcome the Government’s commitment to helping more first-time buyers onto the housing ladder. Improving affordability is key to unlocking demand and delivering much-needed new homes. We look forward to working with the Government and Homes England to ensure young people across the country benefit from the Your First Home policy as soon as possible.”
