Littlehampton family 'cinema': Summer WickFlicks screening proves a huge success

Wick Action Group (WAG) screened Sing 2 as part of the successful WickFlicks project, which launched at Wick Hall in March.

Littlehampton mayor Jill Long joined an audience of 80 children, parents and grandparents for an exclusive screening last Wednesday.

Mike Northeast, WAG volunteer and local councillor, said: "At this time when money is tight, it was great to see so many people enjoying an affordable afternoon at the ‘cinema’.

"For just 50p, families were not only treated to the film but everyone received a free drink and popcorn, courtesy of Morrisons, as well as being entered into a free prize draw, the prize being a double DVD featuring Sing 1 and 2, donated by Morrisons, with the winning ticket being drawn by the mayor.”

The next WickFlicks will be a double header for half-term, planned for Wednesday, October 26. The intention is to show a children's film in the afternoon and a grown-up’s film in the early evening.

Mike added: "We want people to get involved by suggesting the films they would like to see in the future, by posting their preferences on the Wick Action Group Facebook page.

"WickFlicks is made possible by the volunteers of the Wick Action Group, All Saints Church Wick, Morrisons and the Arun Wellbeing and Health Partnership Fund.”

Wick Action Group was formed by three local Labour councillors, Mike Northeast, Freddie Tandy and Alan Butcher. It also includes the Rev Tom Robson from All Saints Church and Morrisons Littlehampton community champion Alison Whitburn.
