England fans across Crawley and Horsham will be flocking to pubs, clubs and bars tonight as the Three Lions take on Argentina in the World Cup semi-final.

With excitement building ahead of kick-off, we asked readers where they think is the best place to watch the match – and there was no shortage of recommendations.

In Crawley, Octopvs emerged as one of the most popular suggestions. Observer reader Damian Hillwood said it has the ‘best atmosphere in town by far’.

Others recommended the Jubilee Club, The Grasshopper in Tilgate, The Plough in Three Bridges and Redz Bar at the Broadfield Stadium.

People in and around Horsham were equally enthusiastic, with pubs and venues across the district preparing for a busy evening.

The Six Bells, in Billingshurst. said: "We'll have the game on too! Come on England."

The Crown Inn at Cootham invited supporters to enjoy the match outdoors, saying: "Outside in the garden here... bring a deck chair if you like."

Bistro Branas in Broadbridge Heath promoted its family-friendly atmosphere, while The Three Crowns in Wisborough Green confirmed it would be showing the match in its outdoor viewing area.

The Railway in Billingshurst, The M Bar in Horsham and The Tipsy Fox, in Southwater, also confirmed they would be screening the game, with The M Bar advertising multiple screens along with food and half-time drink offers.

The Holbrook Club revealed demand has been so high that the event is already sold out, posting: "We will be showing the game – sold out – so it will be a fabulous evening."

Readers also shared their own favourite venues. Helen Stanfield suggested the Hare and Hounds in Cowfold; Cathy Fry recommended either The Stout House or The Green Dragon; Debbie Lees chose The Plough Inn in Lower Beeding, while Hollie Perrett said she would be heading to The Surrey Oaks in Newdigate.

Not everyone plans to watch from a pub. Geoff Goble said he'll be cheering England on from home, while Stephen K Ellis revealed he'll be watching from Hong Kong, where the match kicks off in the early hours of the morning.

Maggie Worsell, meanwhile, will be watching from the Royalton Resort in Antigua alongside fellow British holidaymakers. However, she added that if she were in Horsham, she'd be choosing either The King's Arms or The Malt Shovel.

Whether you're heading to a packed sports bar, a village pub or simply settling down on the sofa at home, one thing is certain – there'll be plenty of nerves as England attempt to book their place in the World Cup final.
