Which shops would you like to see in Eastbourne?

Readers of The Herald have been offering their suggestions for which shops and brands they would like to see open in Eastbourne.

The majority of responses called for either a Uniqlo or Zara to open in the town.

There will be a Uniqlo store coming to Sussex in 2027, but it will be in Brighton’s Churchill Square shopping centre.

Other suggestions of clothing retailers included Mango, Apricot and Hobbs, as well as major chain John Lewis.

Readers were also keen to see more well-known restaurants open in the town, with Wagamama and Tortilla popular suggestions.

Alexandra Elliott wrote: “We need some more decent clothes shops, too many gift/homeware shops currently. The upstairs towards Cineworld could do with a Wagamama!”

Jane Dobson-Bakiaj commented: “Not in [the] town centre but Costco and farm foods would be welcome additions and bring people from Brighton and Hastings this way to shop.”

Phillip Hotton wrote: “Can we have a good photography shop like Jessops, and a decent music shop like HMV used to be like, and a decent Hi-Fi shop.”

Robert Partridge added: “I would like HMV to come back, or at least an independent record shop.

“But the rents are high which I believe was [the] reason for HMV to close, but no more clothes or homeware shops!

“As an ex Wilko employee, it's a shame there's not a similar type shop in the town centre.”
