Major Sussex bus operators, Stagecoach South and Stagecoach South East, has encouraged charities and community groups across the region to apply for support through its ongoing Community Grants programme.

The grants form part of Stagecoach’s wider sustainability work and are overseen by its charity committee, Stagecoach – Giving for Good, which helps decide where support can make the biggest difference locally. Funding is focused on four areas:

  • Health and wellbeing
  • Young people, skills and employment
  • Loneliness and social isolation
  • Accessibility and opportunity

As well as working with national charities, Stagecoach South and Stagecoach South East is keen to support smaller, local organisations. A monthly fund is available to provide one-off grants to local charities and community projects that need help.

Charities and community groups can apply online. Applications are reviewed on the first Wednesday of each month and must be submitted before the last Friday of the previous month to be considered.

Joel Mitchell, Managing Director of Stagecoach South East, said: “If you’re a local good cause working in one of the communities we serve, particularly supporting children, young people or health and wellbeing, we would really encourage you to apply. We know just how much of a difference even small amounts of funding can make at a local level.”

Marc Reddy, Managing Director of Stagecoach South said: “We’re able to offer grants of up to £500, and for many smaller organisations that can have a genuine impact. We’ve seen first-hand the difference these grants make, so we’re always keen to hear from groups and encourage them to get in touch.”
