New pedestrian links proposed as part of Storrington housing scheme
Detailed plans for 78 homes, including 28 affordable properties, have been submitted for land west of Ravenscroft in Storrington.
The reserved matters application, made on behalf of A2Dominion Developments Limited, covers the layout, landscaping, scale and appearance of the development.
It follows an earlier hybrid consent under references DC/21/2086 and SDNP/21/04702/OUT. A planning statement accompanying the latest submission says outline permission was granted on appeal in October 2023.
Reserved matters applications provide details of aspects of a development left for later approval under an outline planning permission.

The supporting statement lists the proposed affordable homes among the scheme’s benefits, describing their provision as being ‘in an area that is inherently unaffordable’.
Other features include new pedestrian links through the site, improved connections to the existing public rights of way network, publicly accessible open space and a play area.
Landscape and ecological enhancements are also proposed, alongside a managed surface water drainage system intended to improve local drainage.
The planning statement says: “The scheme has been designed to a high standard of quality, reflecting contemporary best practice in sustainable residential development.”
It adds that the design seeks to achieve ‘appropriate scale, and integration with the surrounding built and natural environment’.
Supporting technical reports cover transport, drainage, ecology and landscape. According to the statement, these assessments confirm ‘there are no overriding technical constraints that would prevent the scheme from being delivered’.
The applicant also identifies economic benefits from construction and increased local spending by future residents.
The application has been advertised as a major development affecting the setting of a listed building.
Addressing heritage impacts, the planning statement argues: “These public benefits also outweigh the harm to heritage assets, through development in their setting, which has previously been characterised as less than substantial.”
The statement concludes that the planning balance is ‘strongly and overwhelmingly in favour’ of granting Reserved Matters approval.
The latest application, reference DC/26/1527, relates to land west of Ravenscroft, Storrington, RH20 4EH.
