A Travelodge spokesperson said: “British parents are planning to spend £1.3 billion on a staycation break to keep their children entertained over October half term break and Eastbourne is one of their top holiday destinations.”
The hotel chain explained that 54 per cent of parents were planning a family holiday for the half term.

Eastbourne is famous for Europe’s largest man-made marina Sovereign Harbour, the 19th century Eastbourne Pier, and the stunning views from Beachy Head make it one of the most popular holiday destinations.”
More than a fifth (21 per cent) of parents reported that taking their children away during the October half term holidays will be cheaper than paying for the energy bills if they stayed at home, according to Travelodge.
The spokesperson added: “A quarter of parents also reported that their October half term break is the last holiday they will be having for some time due to the uncertainty of the cost of living crisis.”
