Chichester, Midhurst and Bognor residents honoured in Queen’s birthday honours

Those recognised in the list include the Principal of Chichester College and the artistic director of Chichester Festival Theatre.

Shelagh Legrave, who has been Principal of Chichester College since 2010, was awarded the OBE for services to Further Education.

Upon learning of her place on the list, Shelagh, who lives in Midhurst, said:

“I am absolutely thrilled and honoured to be receiving an OBE. It is, however, testament to the great staff and students of Chichester who have made this possible.”

Mrs Lorraine Margaret Grocott, clerk at Milland Parish Council, was honoured for services to the community in Milland, West Sussex. (Milland, West Sussex).

Last year, Lorraine celebrated a quarter of a century in her post as council clerk, and parish councillors past and present gathered to mark the occasion.

Among those present were councillors who served with her and representatives from other groups including county councillor Gordon McAra and Bruce Middleton from the South Downs National Park.

Peter Knowles, from Pulborough, was also awarded with a British Empire Medal for his services to the community in West Chiltington.
