A teenager who stabbed a man following an altercation in Horsham has been jailed for a total of seven years. Police were called to the incident in East Street around 1.38am on October 2, 2021. Enquiries revealed the victim – a 22-year-old local man – had thrown a bottle at his friend, which missed and hit another person nearby. He was then approached by three unknown males. The first knocked fast food out of the victim’s hand, the second repeatedly punched him to the face, and the third stabbed him three times to the torso. The victim was subsequently taken to hospital for treatment and later discharged. Three suspects were initially arrested in connection with the incident but released without charge. Then on October 8, a fourth suspect – Harvey Beckett, 18, of Burnham Place, Horsham – was arrested in London with the assistance of the Met Police. Terry Hughes, 46, of York Road in Hove, was sentenced to 66 months in prison at Lewes Crown Court on (March 31 after facing five charges of burglary and one of fraud by false representation. Hughes was arrested on October 27, 2021, after being identified as a suspect in a burglary in Brunswick Road the previous Monday. At around 2pm on the Monday, he was filmed by a member of the public as he left the property acting suspiciously and carrying several large bags. When the occupier of the flat returned, he found the door had been forced open and a number of items had been stolen including electrical products, make-up and bags. Officers recognised Hughes – who was well-known to police – from the video footage and visited his home in York Road to arrest him. A search of his flat found a significant amount of stolen property that was linked to four other burglaries around Brighton and Hove that took place that month. Nadia Bakundukize, 33, was arrested in Chapel Park Road on May 19, 2021 after being seen by plain-clothed police officers to conduct two drug deals in a short space of time. She was searched in custody and found to have 22 wraps of crack cocaine and five wraps of heroin hidden in her underwear. A search of a mobile phone in her possession also found data indicating she was sending out messaging advertising Class A drugs for sale. Bakundukize was released under investigation while enquiries continued. In the early hours of August 10, 2021 police were called to a report of theft where Bakundukize was present. As officers were speaking to her, something was seen to fall from her hand - this was later confirmed to be a wrap containing 6.9 grams of crack cocaine with an estimated value of £900.
