After a hugely successful event at the Assembly Hall, Worthing earlier this year, Drag Bingo UK is returning on Thursday, August 13, again at the Assembly Hall – and this time they're heading straight back to the 80s.

Created by award-winning drag performer Miss Demeanour, Drag Bingo UK combines live vocals, drag performances, audience games, iconic music and interactive bingo into a fully immersive entertainment experience.

Miss Demeanour is promising the 80s Edition, “packed with power ballads, dancefloor anthems and enough neon, sequins and shoulder pads to make 1985 blush!

“We always say it's less about the bingo and more about the atmosphere. We just want people to come in, forget real life for a few hours and leave feeling fabulous. Worthing absolutely blew us away when we visited in March. The audience completely embraced the chaos so coming back was a no-brainer.

“Unlike traditional bingo events, audiences won't win cash prizes as the event isn't a gambling activity but they could walk away with anything from a rhinestoned toilet seat featuring Miss D's face to gigantic bags of tea bags, family-sized sacks of pasta or any other ridiculous prize Miss D has found whilst wandering around a discount shop.

“The special 80s Edition promises a soundtrack packed with iconic hits from one of music's most outrageous decades, alongside live vocalists, drag performances, glitter, lip sync battles, audience participation and the return, of course, of the Best Dressed competition.

“Tease the hair, grab the shoulder pads and prepare to scream Bingo like it's 1985 and everybody's watching,” says Miss D. “If ever there was a time to go completely over the top, this is it.”

Miss D explains: “Drag Bingo UK has built a growing reputation across the UK after selling out in various venues around the country, with audiences ranging from hen parties and birthday groups to drag fans, couples, friendship groups and first-time attendees looking for something completely different from a standard night out.

“Everybody comes to Drag Bingo UK. We’ve had hen parties, 80th birthday parties, drag queens, office groups, pride parties, couples on date nights, mums and daughters, straight lads who got dragged along and ended up living their best lives by the end of the night.”

As drag entertainment continues to grow in mainstream popularity across the UK, Drag Bingo UK has become part of a wider shift towards immersive, experience-led nights out.

“I think drag has become more popular because people have finally realised we’re fabulous full-throttle entertainers,” says Miss D. “At the heart of it all, our job is to make you feel fabulous, welcomed and right at the centre of the party.”

“Worthing was absolutely bonkers in the best possible way. We honestly didn't know what to expect when we first arrived in March, but the audience completely embraced us! They sang louder than most places, danced harder than most places and fully understood the assignment when it came to dressing up! Worthing felt like an obvious choice for our 80s edition. If anyone's going to turn up looking like they've escaped from an episode of Dynasty, it's the people of Worthing.

“Because the 80s gave us Madonna, Whitney, Bon Jovi, shoulder pads, neon lycra and some truly unforgivable hairstyles, honestly, it was the perfect decade for drag queens. The music is iconic, everybody knows the words, and there's absolutely no such thing as being overdressed. Think power ballads, dancefloor anthems and shoulder pads! We're taking everything people already love about Drag Bingo UK and giving it a gloriously neon-coated 80s makeover.”
