Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK, and it can develop without obvious symptoms.

PSA stands for Prostate Specific Antigen. It is a simple blood test that measures the amount of antigen produced by the prostate, entering the blood. It is not a direct test for cancer. A moderately raised reading can be an indicator of a prostate problem and a higher reading should trigger further tests to determine if there is a need for any treatment.

Booking is now open and appointments can be made directly through PcaSO at www.pcaso.mypsatests.org.uk/events. Register an account, Search “Bexhill” or scroll down the events menu. Book an appointment time and enter your details.

Testing will be conducted by trained phlebotomists. Details will be posted or emailed to you as to when the test result will be available on your secure area of the bookings site.

More than 64,000 men are diagnosed in the UK with prostate cancer each year and 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime

Bexhill Lions and PCaSO encourage local men to take this opportunity to be proactive about their prostate health and to share details of the event with friends and family.
