Chichester named the UK’s top city for pumpkin picking this Halloween
Chichester has been named the best place in the UK for pumpkin picking ahead of Halloween, according to a new study comparing 67 cities and areas across the country.
The city topped the national ranking compiled by FLBR Motorsport, which assessed the availability and customer ratings of pumpkin-picking patches to find out where residents have the best access to the seasonal family activity.
Chichester recorded 31.3 pumpkin-picking patches per 100,000 residents, the highest rate of any area included in the study.
The city’s pumpkin patches also achieved an average Google rating of 4.64 out of five, giving Chichester an overall score of 91.26.
The findings come as families across the country prepare for Halloween, with pumpkin picking becoming a popular autumn activity for those looking to choose their own decorations ahead of October 31.
Lincoln in Lincolnshire came second in the study, scoring 82.70, with 27.4 pumpkin-picking patches per 100,000 residents and an average rating of 4.68.
Armagh in Northern Ireland placed third, achieving a score of 70.98. Although it had fewer patches per head of population than Chichester and Lincoln, its pumpkin-picking locations received an average Google rating of 4.9 out of five.
Perth in Scotland ranked fourth, followed by Newry in Northern Ireland in fifth place.
Kingston upon Hull, Wigan, Worcester, Carlisle and Salford completed the top ten.
Carlisle recorded an average rating of 4.9 out of five, matching Armagh for the highest customer rating among the top 10 cities.
The study assessed 67 UK cities and areas using two measures: the number of pumpkin-picking patches per 100,000 residents and the average Google rating of the locations identified in each area.
