Arrest made and vehicle seized in joint agency operation in Cranleigh
A person was arrested and a vehicle was seized in a joint agency operation in Cranleigh, police have reported.
A Surrey Police spokesperson said: “At the start of the month (8 October), we conducted a joint agency stop site in Cranleigh targeting commercial vehicle crime, rogue trading and licensing offences.
“The operation involved partners from HMRC, DVSA, Waverley Borough Council Council Enforcement Team, and Waverley Borough Licensing Team.
“Forty-six vehicles were stopped by Western Neighbourhood Enforcement Team, Casualty Reduction, Commercial Vehicle Unit, Rural Crime Team and Waverley Safer Neighbourhood Team.

“The stops resulted in:
- Ten fixed penalty notices given
- Two vehicles prohibited
- Four traffic offence reports issued
- One vehicle seized for no tax
- One arrested for being wanted by Cambridgeshire Constabulary for multiple offences
- Fourteen taxis stopped and licenses checked
“This joint operation is vital to our mission of making the roads safer for everyone and reducing the number of fatalities and serious injuries.
“Focusing on commercial vehicles, and making sure they’re complying with the law, is incredibly important given their size and nature of the loads they’re carrying, as we want to minimise the impact of them being involved in a collision.”
