Council announce free car parking at Hastings in the run up to Christmas
Hastings Borough Council has already agreed plans to provide free parking on specific dates in December and is due to formally announce this at Cabinet on Monday 9 December.
Free parking will be available at all council-owned carparks to residents and visitors after 2pm on Saturday 5, 12 and 19 December. In addition to this, the council will not be charging for parking on Friday 25 December, Saturday 26 December, and Friday 1 January. Parking will be free at these car parks until charges restart the following morning.
The free parking initiative forms part of a wider package of measures being pursued by the council to support the local economy. The council has also written to East Sussex County Council asking for free on-street parking, while Southeastern and Stagecoach have been asked to consider offering free travel initiatives.
