The Pages Lane community at Bexhill constructed wonderful scarecrows again for what has now become a popular annual event.

Bexhill Mayor Cllr Memish Huseyin along with past Mayor Lynn Langlands had a difficult job judging 14 excellently constructed scarecrows, by children and adults.

Dolly Parton, Megan and Harry and Paddington Bear were just some of the scarecrows that added real fun to an afternoon walk.

Val Yates, a resident of Pages Lane, organises the event and the proceeds go to a chosen charity. This year they raised £255.27 for the Sara Lee Trust.

Prizes were donated by Bentleys Steakhouse, Cook, hampers from Witham Community Care and Smyth's vouchers for the children.

Lynn Langlands, said: “This was another great demonstration of community spirit, and how by coming together, neighbours can not only entertain everyone in Bexhill, but raise money for such a good cause like the Sara Lee Trust. We look forward to seeing some more original scarecrows in 2027.”
