Littlehampton care home marks International Nurses Day by celebrating two staff members
A Littlehampton care home is marking International Nurses Day today by celebrating the outstanding contribution of two team members.
Fulford Care and Nursing Home staff nurses Sency Santhosh and Mineena John, both originally from India, are being recognised for the compassion, expertise and dedication they bring to residents and colleagues every day.
International Nurses Day is observed each year on the birthday of Florence Nightingale and recognises the vital role nurses play in healthcare around the world.
Sency said: “Throughout my career, I have learned that nursing is not only about delivering medical care, but also about offering emotional support, building trust, and helping residents maintain their independence and quality of life.

“Working at Fulford Care and Nursing Home has been both professionally rewarding and personally fulfilling, and I am proud to contribute to the local community through my work.
“Every day brings new challenges and opportunities to make a positive difference in residents’ lives by ensuring they feel safe, respected, comfortable and valued.
Fulford Care and Nursing Home provides care for up to 74 residents and is rated ‘Good’ in all areas by the Care Quality Commission.
Mineena said: “Caring for others is more than just a job to me, it comes from the heart. I chose this profession because I want to make a positive difference in people’s lives, especially when they need support, comfort and kindness the most.
“I love building connections with the people I care for, and listening to their stories. Sometimes the smallest moments, like making someone smile or simply being there to listen, can mean everything.
“International Nurses Day is a chance to celebrate the dedication, kindness and humanity shown by nurses everywhere, and I feel honoured to be part of this profession.”
Operations Manager Lisa Turner said: “Sency and Mineena are the embodiment of professionalism and commitment at Fulford Care and Nursing Home.
“Their success reflects the wider Agincare family, which is proud to have colleagues from more than 70 nationalities working across its services, all playing their part in delivering high-quality, person-centred care.”
Resident Jeanette Haselgrove,89, added: “The nurses are so lovely. When I was poorly, they were very kind to me. They always stop for a chat; make sure I am okay and will do absolutely anything for you.”
