Remembrance events taking place in Adur and Worthing - all you need to know
Here’s all you need to know about the Remembrance events taking place across Adur and Worthing.
Several events in Adur and Worthing will give residents a chance to pay their respects to the men and women who have served our country.
Worthing’s Field of Remembrance was opened beside the war memorial, outside the Town Hall in Chapel Road, on Tuesday, November 3.
A two-minute silence was held at 11am to remember those who lost their lives in conflict, followed by the placing of crosses. Mayor of Worthing Councillor Lysanne Skinner was joined by veterans, members of the town’s armed forces community, councillors and members of the public to pay their respects.

This marked the first of three services taking place across the town.
On Remembrance Sunday (November 8), another two-minute silence will be held at the war memorial at 11am. This will be followed by the laying of commemorative wreaths and the annual parade past Worthing Town Hall.
Another service will take place on Armistice Day (Wednesday, November 11). A further two-minute silence will be held at 11am at the war memorial, marking the end of the fighting in the First World War.
Several services will take place across Adur on Remembrance Sunday.
In Sompting, a service will be held at St Mary’s Church in Church Lane at 9am. This will be followed by a wreath laying, two-minute silence and reading of names at the war memorial.
Lancing’s service will see a parade begin in South Street at 2.15pm and make its way to the war memorial, where wreaths will be laid. A service will take place in St Michael and All Angels Church at 3pm.
In Shoreham, a parade will leave The Shoreham Centre, in Pond Road, at 9.20am, making its way to St Mary de Haura Church, in Church Street. Here, a service will be held before a wreath-laying ceremony and two-minute silence at the war memorial in East Street.
Southwick’s service will see a parade leave Southwick Square car park at 10.30am, before a service at the war memorial on Southwick Green.
An Adur & Worthing Councils spokesperson said: “Thank you to the area’s armed forces community for organising these poignant events. Each service is open to all, so please come along if you would like to pay your respects.”
