Wadars launches fundraising appeal for new animal centre - 'an important new chapter'

Worthing charity Wadars has launched a fundraising appeal to help transform its new site into a purpose-built centre for animals.

The animal rescue charity, previously located in Hangleton Lane, Ferring, has moved to a three-acre site at Willow Farm in Patching.

Wadars, which has been operating since 1969, said the move ‘represents one of the most significant developments’ since it was founded.

A spokesperson for the charity previously said: “This is the beginning of an important new chapter for Wadars and a wonderful opportunity to create a safer, more suitable and sustainable future for the animals who need us most.

“Moving to a more suitable site will allow us to focus more of our time and resources where they are needed most. The move will also give us room to grow our services in the future."

Wadars has now launched its ‘Willow Farm Appeal’, which will support the development of new facilities, including dog kennels, a relocated cattery, a dedicated dog exercise area and a small animal unit.

The appeal was launched at an event at Willow Farm, where supporters, local businesses and partners were invited to tour the site and learn more about the charity’s plans. During the event, Wadars representatives outlined how community support, corporate partnerships and fundraising will play a crucial role in bringing the vision for Willow Farm to life.

Jill Silk, Wadars trustee, said: "We are incredibly grateful for the enthusiasm, encouragement and support we have received as we embark on this exciting new chapter. Willow Farm represents a transformational opportunity for Wadars, and with the support of our community, we can create facilities that will enable us to help even more animals in need.”

The charity has created individual appeal areas, which allows supporters to contribute towards the parts of the project that ‘mean the most to them’, according to Wadars.
